Port Aransas Named the Official Fishing Capital of Texas!

Big news just made waves in our hometown—Port Aransas has officially been declared the Fishing Capital of Texas!

On April 17, 2025, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 43 (SCR 43), and on June 4, 2025, Governor Greg Abbott signed the official proclamation, locking in our legacy for the next 10 years. While we’ve always known Port A was the place to fish, now it’s backed by law.

Why Port Aransas?

Port Aransas earned this title thanks to its:

  • Incredible year-round fishing—offshore, bay, and surf

  • Legendary tournaments like the Deep Sea Roundup and Texas Legends Billfish Tournament

  • Diverse marine ecosystem teeming with red snapper, marlin, tuna, and tarpon

  • Proud fishing history, strong conservation practices, and vibrant coastal culture

Whether you’re after big game offshore or family-friendly fun on a half-day trip, this is where Texans fish.
